Lalla Essaydi grew up in Morocco and is now living and working in the United States. Her work deals with the body of a Muslim woman, working or simply being. "In my art, I wish to present myself through multiple lenses -- as artist, as Moroccan, as traditionalist, as Liberal, as Muslim. In short, I invite viewers to resist stereotypes."
