Annie Leibovitz
is an American portrait photographer, well known for her high fashion and
celebrity spreads in magazines like Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Vogue. She
began her photography career with Rolling Stone in 1970 while a student at the
San Francisco Art Institute, and later joined the staff of Vanity Fair.
Leibovitz is known for her skills of capturing not only her clients, but also a
glimmer of their personalities, and her beautiful sets. Her photos are filled
with energy and timelessness. Leibovitz’ career seems to have truly skyrocketed
in the past decade as she has had the privilege of shooting celebrities such as
Lady Gaga, the Game of Thrones cast, and the family of President Obama.
In April of 2014, Leibovitz shot
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s Vogue cover and engagement photos featuring
their daughter North. As the #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple, this shoot was a
huge hit. The photos exaggerated (or portrayed?) the newlyweds’ Parisian/New
Yorker, jet-setting, luxurious lifestyle. The contrast between Kim’s lavish
wedding gowns and Kanye’s sleek suits are perfectly displayed in this beautiful
series of photos.
