Sonja Hinrichsen
is a German artist who is drawn to working in materials like snow and ice. She
creates large-scale pieces that are meant to be temporary, but that tells
stories about society’s past and present, and hopefully are the beginning of
positive change for the future. Sometimes, Hinrichsen will use the help of
volunteer performers and fellow artists to help her achieve her goals in the
great ‘canvas’ that nature has provided her. Specifically, “Snow Drawings” is
an ongoing project that she has taken on where she draws designs in fresh snow
while wearing snowshoes.
