Barry X Ball is
an internationally exhibited American sculptor living and working in New York. Most
of his sculptures portray a human head, many with a face on either side of the
skull. One of his most famous works, entitled Matthew Barney, was the only
piece exhibited in a solo show at the MoMA PS1 for four months in 2004. He also
had 9 similar pieces exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2011.
I really respect and enjoy looking
at Ball’s work, and wish I could examine them in person. I feel like his
artwork successfully displays what so many artists try to depict in their work:
the paradigm that often times people feel differently internally than what they
show externally.
