Sylvain Meyer is
a Swiss artist who takes found natural materials and adds them to existing
trees, boulders, etc. in order to create a temporary but beautiful sight for
anyone who comes in contact with his works. He captures all of his pieces with
his camera, making these pieces virtually permanent.
As I look at
more and more of his work, I feel that he is making a statement saying that
humanity continues to casually overlook the beauty of nature. He uses elements
around him to enhance the beauty, to make it look a little bit unnatural, in
order to catch our attention. In particular, he created a giant spider out of
moss. Even though this is an insect not many of us would love to come in
contact with, we have to acknowledge the beauty of his creation, despite the
content itself.
