Aiken's Installation of
House was done in Santa Monica, California in 2010. A film of his parents facing each other atop a picnic-type table dominates the center of the installation with debris from what appears to be a destroyed house and dirty sand floor surrounding the small sized monitor. The interpretation could take several directions -- memories of a home broken in time; the collapse of a home and the safety and security it represents; the gradual aging and crumbling of families and of homes.
